Where do you go from here?

The situation below is illustrative, not a real member’s case.

In this example, the two songwriters have already agreed on their split. The gap is in the documentation record: the figures on the signed sheet haven’t been entered.

The first follow-up can be straightforward.

Send the signed split sheet with the song title and a note identifying the empty field.

If there’s an existing work reference, include it so the team can locate the right record.

For example:

“The split entry for this song is still blank. I’ve included the signed split sheet. Could you check the record against it and let me know if anything else is needed?”

What needs checking?

The team needs to match the signed sheet to the song and songwriters in the record before entering the figures.

In this example, the affected processing step is held while that check takes place.

If the details match, the agreed percentages can be entered from the signed source.

If something differs or is unclear, that specific point needs clarification first.

A remembered conversation or an unapproved draft isn’t used to fill the gap in this example.

There’s no need to rewrite the signed sheet to make it look like the record. Keep the source intact. The update belongs in the documentation, with a record of what was changed.
 

Ask about the entry you flagged

When you follow up, ask whether that split entry has been checked against the source and updated, or whether a detail still needs clarification.

This keeps the conversation focused on the missing information, without treating an empty field as a disagreement between co-writers.
