You write under a pseudonym, but your real name appears on the split sheet. Both belong to you. Will someone checking the documents be able to tell?
Consider this example: a songwriter submits a split sheet under their real name. A supporting document uses their pseudonym, with nothing in the package to connect the two. The person reviewing it needs that connection confirmed before linking the records.
This is an illustrative example, not a real member’s case.
Show where the names connect
Start with the documents in question. Point out which one uses your real name and which uses your pseudonym. Include the song title and any existing work reference so the reviewer knows which record you mean.
You could write:
“The split sheet uses my real name, while the supporting document uses my pseudonym. Both refer to me. Could you help me check how they’re recorded for this song?”
That gives the reviewer something specific to check. If you have a preferred name for display, mention it too, while keeping the reference to your real name clear.
In this example, the affected record stays on hold while the connection is checked against the relevant documents. Once confirmed, the preferred display name and the identity reference linking both names are recorded.
Keep the original documents
Avoid replacing names across your files just to make them look the same. Keep the original split sheet and supporting document, then identify the correction or clarification you’re requesting. The original entry and the record of the change should remain available.
