How to Join Massive Music as a Songwriter

Summary

Considering a publishing relationship with Massive Music? Prepare your work and rights information, then choose the route that matches your relationship: a new application, additional works under an existing membership, or a membership-status enquiry.

Joining a publisher means entering a business relationship for the administration of specified rights in your musical works.

It is separate from the creation of copyright. In Indonesia, copyright arises automatically once a work is expressed in tangible form; publisher registration and government recordation are not prerequisites.

Start with the works you intend to submit. Identify the songwriters, the shares you control and any agreements that affect those rights.

Check Your Rights Before Applying

Being a performer, band member or owner of a recording does not by itself establish authorship or authority over the composition.

Identify each songwriter and the composition shares you are entitled to place under management. Keep composition ownership separate from master ownership and royalty-income shares.

Disclose existing publishing or administration arrangements, including the works, shares, rights, territory and term they cover. Do not offer overlapping rights without resolving the existing arrangement.

If an earlier agreement may still apply, explain this to Membership before proceeding. Keep the relevant agreement and any release or termination documents available for review; signing a new agreement does not itself end an earlier one.

Does My Song Need to Be Released First?

A song does not need a commercial release for copyright to arise or for publishing administration to be considered.

Mark an unreleased work accurately and prepare the available lyrics and work information. Provide a demo or other supporting material if requested. Follow the current form and Membership guidance for submission eligibility.

A release does not guarantee royalty income. Income depends on actual uses, applicable rights, agreements and reporting.

What Should You Prepare?

Use the following preparation checklist, then follow the fields and document requests in the current form. It does not replace any requirements stated in the application process.

Start with the basics:

Your Personal Information

Prepare your legal name, contact details and identity information. The Membership Form asks for a NIK/KTP number. Follow its instructions for supporting documents and tax information; if a required field does not apply to you, ask Membership for the appropriate route instead of entering substitute or invented data.

Your Song List

Prepare each work's title, lyrics where applicable, songwriter names, composition shares and existing publishing arrangements. Distinguish music and lyric contributions where the requested format does so. Include release details and assigned identifiers when available; do not invent missing identifiers.

Record professional names alongside the correct legal identity. For co-written works, prepare evidence of the agreed shares. The linked direct-songwriter draft calls for a statement signed by the collaborating songwriters that identifies their respective ownership percentages. Use the format and delivery instructions supplied for your application.

Your Understanding of the Agreement

For a direct songwriter agreement, read the draft linked below as preparation. Before signing, review the completed agreement offered to you, including its annexes and any amendments.

Check the works and shares, rights, territory, term and renewal, exclusivity, income calculation and deductions, reporting and payment terms, approval requirements for changes to a work, and how the relationship may end. Confirm the parties, dates and annexes are complete, and seek independent advice on terms you do not understand.

After You Submit

Keep a record of the form used, submission date and works included, together with any confirmation shown or received. For a follow-up, identify that submission and ask whether information is missing and what action is needed.

A submitted form does not establish acceptance, a signed publishing agreement or completed work registration. If the application proceeds, review the completed contract and follow the agreed signing instructions. Ask for confirmation of the resulting relationship and catalogue status.

Current Members: Add Works Under Your Agreement

Use Add New Song and Lyric for additional works within your current agreement. Prepare the new work information and co-writer evidence, and disclose any rights or shares already managed elsewhere.

Submit or Correct Work Information

Follow the official form below and keep your submission record. If the work has already been submitted, identify the earlier submission and ask how to correct or update it. For a change to the agreement or its scope, contact Membership before treating it as a routine addition.

Existing members: Add New Song and Lyric

New Applicants: Start a Publishing Application

Use the Membership Form below after preparing your information and reviewing the draft. Follow the form's instructions and the terms offered for your works. Current members adding works should use the additional-work form above.

Former Member or Unsure of Your Status?

Ask Membership to confirm your current relationship and the appropriate route before applying again or using a member-only process. Explain that you have a previous relationship or are unsure of its status; a period without submitting works does not by itself establish that membership has ended. Use Contact Massive Music for an initial enquiry and request the appropriate channel for supporting documents. The composer portal is under construction.
