Every reporting period, songwriters at Massive Music receive a royalty statement: a breakdown of where your money comes from — the type of usage, the reporting period, and the numbers.

Your statement is there to help you understand what is being reported and where the numbers come from.

Principle #1: Traceable

Every line should have a source that can be explained.

You have the right to ask, “Where did this come from?” — and get an answer.

Transparency means that the information in your statement can be traced and explained.

Principle #2: Human Language

A statement that can only be understood by an accountant isn’t transparency.

We continue to refine the format so you can understand your statement without needing a translator.

Because being able to read the numbers is part of being able to understand your royalties.

Principle #3: Follow Up on What Doesn’t Add Up

Missing data, unidentified usage, or numbers that don’t match — these are things we follow up on.

They are material for our work, not something to quietly leave unanswered.

When something looks unusual, you have the right to ask questions and seek an explanation.

Transparency Starts With Reading Your Statement
